Medline OVID allows
proximity or adjacency searching while PubMed does not. This means that
you can type Adj in between two search words (or terms) to find
articles containing these two words next to each other (and in any
order).
Also, this adjacency searching allows users to specify the maximum
numbers of words (between 1 and 99) coming in between these two terms.
ex. heart Adj2 surgery
retrieves articles containing the two words heart and surgery with
maximum number of one word coming in between them; Adj3 retrieves
words with a maximum of 2 words coming in between them, and so on…
